Dihydrofolate reductase pseudogene 5 (DHFRP5) is a processed pseudogene derived from the *dihydrofolate reductase* (DHFR) gene family in humans. It does not encode a functional enzyme and is not expressed; instead, it is a non-coding genomic sequence resulting from retrotransposition of DHFR mRNA. Like other DHFR pseudogenes (DHFRP1, DHFRP2, DHFRP4), DHFRP5 lacks introns and is not known to be involved in any biological, disease, or pharmacological process. Only the parent gene, DHFR, is enzymatically active and a major drug target; the pseudogenes (including DHFRP5) are not considered drug targets, biomarkers, or involved in disease pathways. No drugs are known to interact with this pseudogene, nor does it have a role in therapeutic strategies.
