Overview

Dihydrolipoamide S-succinyltransferase pseudogene 1 (DLSTP1) is a human pseudogene with sequence similarity to the functional gene dihydrolipoamide S-succinyltransferase (DLST), a component of the 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex in mitochondria, but DLSTP1 itself does not encode a functional protein or enzyme. Pseudogenes such as DLSTP1 typically result from gene duplication, retrotransposition, or disabling mutations, and are generally nonfunctional; some pseudogenes can regulate gene expression by serving as microRNA sponges or competitive endogenous RNAs, but there is no specific evidence that DLSTP1 has such functions. It is not considered a therapeutic target. DLSTP1 should not be confused with functional targets, and it is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical drug target. If the intent was to query a therapeutic target, this is likely an error.

Mechanism of action

None (as above, not targeted by drugs)

03

Biological functions

None established for DLSTP1 directly (pseudogenes are generally nonfunctional, although some regulate gene networks via RNA interactions in specific contexts)
04

Disease associations

None established for DLSTP1 (no direct disease role is reported; however, some pseudogenes have been implicated in cancer, gene regulation, or as decoys for miRNAs, but not specifically for DLSTP1)
05

Safety considerations

None (not a classical target)
06

Interacting drugs

None (pseudogenes are not classical drug targets)
07

Biomarkers

None established for DLSTP1 (no evidence that this pseudogene is used for patient selection or monitoring)
