Overview

Dihydrolipoyl acetyltransferase (DLAT), also known as the E2 component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC), is a central enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of an acetyl group from hydroxyethyl-lipoamide to coenzyme A, forming acetyl-CoA. It plays a critical role in linking glycolysis to the citric acid (TCA) cycle. The E2 subunit acts as both a catalytic core and a structural scaffold for the PDC.
