Overview

DIP2C antisense RNA 1 (DIP2C-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA gene (lncRNA), also known under aliases such as C10orf108 and PRR26, and possibly encodes a putative uncharacterized protein (Q8N8Z3). It is transcribed from chromosome 10 and exists predominantly as a non-coding RNA with some sources annotating a putative proline-rich protein product. DIP2C-AS1/PRR26 has been implicated as part of ceRNA (competing endogenous RNA) networks in cancer, functioning as a predictive or prognostic biomarker in lung squamous cell carcinoma and prostate cancer, and possibly being associated with familial inflammatory bowel disease. There is no current evidence that DIP2C-AS1 acts as a classic therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, nor are there any approved drugs or established small molecule interactions reported for this target. While variants in the gene have been associated with disease susceptibility or prognosis, its molecular function and pathway roles remain largely uncharacterized.
