01

Overview

Dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPPI), also known as cathepsin C, is a lysosomal cysteine protease that plays a key role in the activation of granule-associated serine proteases in immune and inflammatory cells. It catalyzes the removal of N-terminal dipeptides from polypeptides, leading to the maturation and activation of enzymes like granzymes and neutrophil serine proteases. DPPI deficiency is associated with impaired immune function and inflammatory disorders, making it a potential therapeutic target for modulating excessive neutrophil activity.
