Overview

Diphthamide biosynthesis 3 pseudogene 2 (DPH3P2) is a member of the pseudogene family in the human genome, homologous to the functional gene DPH3, which encodes a protein involved in the diphthamide modification of eukaryotic elongation factor 2 (EF2). Unlike DPH3, DPH3P2 does not produce a functional protein and is considered non-coding without a known biological function or role in disease. It is therefore not a therapeutic target, and there are no drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarker associations for this pseudogene. The confusion may arise from its similar name to DPH3, but only DPH3 has an enzymatic role in post-translational modification related to translation.
