These antigens (diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, pertactin) are purified proteins derived from the respective bacterial pathogens (Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Clostridium tetani, Bordetella pertussis). They are chemically or genetically inactivated (in the case of toxoids and toxin antigens), used in combination vaccines to induce specific immune responses that prevent their respective diseases. Filamentous hemagglutinin and pertactin are bacterial surface proteins important for colonization and immune recognition, and their inclusion improves vaccine efficacy against pertussis. These molecules are not therapeutic drug targets but are critical immunogens enabling successful vaccination programs against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis.
