Diphtheria Toxoid Protein Carrier (DT)

Target
DT
Molecular classification
Detoxified Bacterial Exotoxin, Carrier Protein
01

Overview

The diphtheria toxoid protein carrier is a detoxified form of the diphtheria toxin, commonly used as a carrier protein in conjugate vaccines. It enhances the immunogenicity of polysaccharide antigens by converting them from T-cell independent to T-cell dependent antigens, thereby eliciting a stronger and longer-lasting immune response. Variants include formaldehyde-inactivated DT and the genetically modified nontoxic mutant CRM197.

Other names
