Molecular classification
Receptor Tyrosine Kinase

Overview

Discoidin domain receptor tyrosine kinases (DDRs) are a unique family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) that function as non-integrin collagen receptors. Unlike most RTKs, DDRs are not activated by soluble growth factors but instead by binding to collagens. There are two main subtypes in mammals: DDR1 and DDR2. They play key roles in cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, ECM remodeling, tissue homeostasis, and are implicated in cancer and fibrosis.
