Overview
Disialoganglioside GD2 is an amphiphilic ganglioside highly expressed on several pediatric/adult solid tumors but limited on healthy tissues. Its structure features a membrane-bound ceramide tail and an extracellular oligosaccharide head with two sialic acids. It plays roles in cell adhesion/growth/metastasis—especially relevant to cancer—and serves as a validated therapeutic target for antibody-based treatments including monoclonal antibodies and CAR-T therapies due to its selective expression profile.

Antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), direct apoptosis/necrosis; also block tumor cell adhesion/homing.
