Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 17 (ADAM17), also known as tumor necrosis factor-α-converting enzyme (TACE), is a membrane-bound metalloprotease that sheds various cell surface proteins, including cytokines, growth factors, receptors, and adhesion molecules. It plays a crucial role in inflammation, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegeneration by regulating signaling pathways through the controlled release of these proteins.
