Dispatched RND transporter family member 3 (DISP3)

Target
DISP3
Molecular classification
Transporter, Transmembrane protein, Patched-domain containing protein
01

Overview

Dispatched RND transporter family member 3 (DISP3) is a multispan transmembrane protein characterized by a Patched homologous region. It is primarily involved in the regulation of neuronal development and differentiation, the positive regulation of lipid metabolic pathways, maintenance of cholesterol homeostasis, and the formation of intracellular lipid droplets. DISP3 is localized in the cytoplasm and is expressed in neuronal tissues. It has been implicated in cancer, particularly scrotum melanoma and benign neoplasms of the anus. While DISP3 shares domain architecture with other transporter and Patched-domain proteins, no drugs or specific mechanisms of action for therapeutic targeting have been reported to date, nor are there known biomarkers or significant safety concerns currently associated with DISP3.
