The gene is situated on chromosome 9q34.3 in humans[3][12]. While the name implies a kinase domain, DIPK1B is considered "divergent," meaning any kinase activity is unconfirmed and the functional role remains unclear[7][10]. There is some structural evidence of an inserted EF-hand domain that may mediate calcium binding, yet no experimental validation exists regarding biological function or involvement in human disease[7][10]. No interacting drugs, biomarker roles, or safety concerns are reported in the current literature[1][11][12]. DIPK1B is not presently recognized as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor[1][2][11][12].
