Overview

DLG1 antisense RNA 1 (DLG1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the DLG1 gene and does not code for a protein[5]. It plays a regulatory role in gene expression, particularly in cancer contexts such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cervical cancer, where its upregulation may function as an oncogene[2][4][5]. DLG1-AS1 is transcriptionally activated by MYC and exerts oncogenic effects by regulating cell proliferation and migration, primarily through the miR-497-5p/SSRP1 axis in HCC, where it acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) for miR-497-5p, thereby upregulating SSRP1[2][4]. Its increased expression has been implicated in poor cancer outcomes. As a long non-coding antisense RNA, DLG1-AS1 has no known direct drug interactions or safety concerns in therapeutic contexts. It is mainly researched as a potential biomarker and regulatory molecule in cancer progression rather than a classical therapeutic target (such as a receptor or enzyme)[2][5].
