Overview

DLGAP2 antisense RNA 1 (DLGAP2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the DLGAP2 gene. It is implicated in the regulation of gene expression primarily through acting as a molecular sponge for microRNAs that suppress oncogenic signaling pathways. DLGAP2-AS1 is overexpressed in a range of cancers and promotes tumor progression, invasion, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), notably in hepatocellular carcinoma, by regulating the IL-6/JAK2/STAT3 and Wnt/β-catenin pathways[2][3]. It is being studied as a potential therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker in oncology, although no approved drugs currently target DLGAP2-AS1 directly[2][3][4].

Mechanism of action

Acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging microRNAs (such as miR-26a-5p and miR-26b-5p), Deregulates expression of oncogenic factors (e.g., IL-6), Activates JAK2/STAT3 pathway, Activates Wnt/β-catenin signaling
