Overview

DLGAP4 antisense RNA 1 (DLGAP4-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 20, also known by the alias CCAT7[2][4][5][6]. Unlike protein-coding genes or classical therapeutic targets such as receptors or enzymes, DLGAP4-AS1 does not produce a protein product and is classified as an RNA gene—specifically in the lncRNA family[5]. Long non-coding RNAs like DLGAP4-AS1 are typically involved in the regulation of gene expression at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional level. Diseases associated with DLGAP4-AS1 include various cancers, with particular mention of colorectal cancer, as well as rare developmental disorders such as megacystis-microcolon-intestinal hypoperistalsis syndrome 4[5]. There are currently no known drugs reported to target DLGAP4-AS1 directly, nor is it established as a direct therapeutic target or clinical biomarker. Its function, nomenclature, and disease associations are distinct from the protein-coding gene DLGAP4, which is a synaptic scaffold protein with broader neurological roles[1][3].
