DMRT like family C2 (DMRTC2) is a protein-coding gene encoding a transcription factor involved in sequence-specific double-stranded DNA binding, regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II, and cellular differentiation, with roles in sex differentiation, male meiosis, and spermatid nucleus elongation. It belongs to the DMRT (Doublesex and Mab-3 Related Transcription factor) family, which is evolutionarily conserved and known for functions in sexual development in animals. DMRTC2 is predicted to function primarily in the nucleus and chromatin, and genetic associations with human disease are currently limited, with gestational diabetes insipidus being noted as one associated phenotype. Currently, there are no known drugs targeting DMRTC2, nor is it established as a direct therapeutic or biomarker target.
