DNA-directed RNA polymerase I subunit RPA12 (POLR1H) is a core component of RNA polymerase I, a DNA-dependent enzyme responsible for synthesizing ribosomal RNA precursors in the nucleolus[4][5]. This subunit contains two zinc-binding motifs and facilitates proofreading during transcription by cleaving misincorporated nucleotides, helping maintain transcription fidelity[4][3].
