Overview

DNA-directed RNA polymerases I, II, and III subunit RPABC2 (POLR2F) is a protein-coding gene encoding the sixth largest subunit shared by all three major eukaryotic RNA polymerases (I, II, III). It is essential for the transcription of DNA into RNA, contributing to the synthesis of mRNA, rRNA precursors, tRNAs, and other non-coding RNAs. This subunit forms part of the polymerase complex’s clamp element that stabilizes the enzyme on the DNA template during transcription. POLR2F is implicated in various chromatin and cellular pathways and mutations have been associated with neurodevelopmental syndromes and cancers.
