DNA Methyltransferase 3 Beta (DNMT3b) is an enzyme that belongs to the family of DNA methyltransferases, responsible for adding methyl groups to cytosine residues in DNA, a key epigenetic modification that regulates gene expression. DNMT3b primarily functions as a *de novo* methyltransferase, establishing new DNA methylation patterns during development. Mutations in the DNMT3B gene are associated with immunodeficiency-centromeric instability-facial anomalies syndrome (ICF syndrome), and variants may contribute to other conditions such as nicotine dependency and cancer.
