Target intelligence / Profile preview
DNA polymerase III subunit C (HolC/Chi) is a component of the DNA polymerase III holoenzyme in bacteria such as *Escherichia coli*. It plays a critical role in the clamp loader complex, facilitating the loading of the beta sliding clamp onto primed DNA to enable processive DNA synthesis. While not directly catalytic, it stabilizes interactions within the clamp loader and with other replication proteins.
