DNA synthesis in lymphocytes refers to the process by which these immune cells replicate their DNA, a critical step for cell proliferation during immune responses. In resting lymphocytes, DNA synthesis is minimal or absent. Upon activation, lymphocytes enter the cell cycle and initiate robust DNA replication. This process is essential for clonal expansion during adaptive immune responses and is tightly regulated by a balance between cytoplasmic activators (e.g., ADR) and inhibitors. Dysregulation can lead to impaired immune responses or contribute to autoimmunity or neoplastic transformation.
