DNA topoisomerase III beta pseudogene 1 (TOP3BP1) is classified as a pseudogene that encodes a protein with similarity to human DNA topoisomerase III beta. While DNA topoisomerase III beta (TOP3B) itself is an active enzyme involved in relaxing supercoiled DNA and is functionally significant in transcription and recombination, the pseudogene TOP3BP1 does not encode a functional, therapeutically actionable protein. There are no known therapeutic drugs or mechanisms directly targeting this pseudogene, and it is not recognized as a validated therapeutic target or biomarker. Structured gene databases define TOP3BP1 as a locus with sequence similarity but lacking protein-coding or biological function[7]. No additional validated molecular function, disease relevance, drug interaction, or clinical significance is associated with TOP3BP1. The real target for therapeutic interest is usually the active gene DNA topoisomerase III beta (TOP3B), not the pseudogene TOP3BP1[3][5][7].
