Target intelligence / Profile preview
DNA transcription is the biological process by which the genetic information encoded in a DNA sequence is copied into a complementary RNA molecule, most commonly messenger RNA (mRNA). This process is essential for gene expression, as it enables cells to produce proteins based on their genetic code. Transcription occurs in three main stages: Initiation, Elongation, and Termination. In eukaryotes, post-transcriptional processing of pre-mRNA is also essential.
