DnaJ heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member C22 (DNAJC22) is a molecular chaperone that may act as a co-chaperone within the Hsp40 family. The protein is predicted to localize to membranes and is involved in assisting protein folding, potentially by supporting Hsp70 chaperone activities. Expression is detected in multiple tissues, including brain, gut, liver, and kidney in mouse models, and RNA/protein is found in various human cancers, though its precise functional role in cancer is not fully defined. DNAJC22 has been linked to wrinkly skin syndrome, as an associated gene, but no direct causative or therapeutic implication has been established. There are currently no known small molecules, inhibitors, antibodies, or approved drugs that directly target DNAJC22 for therapeutic purposes.
