Target intelligence / Profile preview

DnaJ heat shock protein family member A1 pseudogene 1 (DNAJA1P1)

Target
DNAJA1P1
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA (when transcribed)

Overview

DnaJ heat shock protein family member A1 pseudogene 1 (DNAJA1P1) is classified as a pseudogene related to the DNAJA1 gene, which encodes a co-chaperone of heat shock protein 70 (Hsp40 family) involved in protein folding and cellular stress response. Unlike its parental gene, DNAJA1P1 does not encode a functional protein and, in the current literature and databases, no direct functional or pathological role has been ascribed to it. Pseudogenes like DNAJA1P1 usually arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and often do not produce a functional protein product. While some pseudogenes may have regulatory or non-coding RNA functions in cellular biology or disease, there is no evidence that DNAJA1P1 possesses such roles at present [2][8][10].

Other names
DnaJ (Hsp40) homolog, subfamily A, member 1 pseudogene 1DNAJA1P1

Biological functions

None as a protein; as a pseudogene, may have regulatory RNA functions (such as acting as a decoy for miRNAs in some contexts—general for pseudogenes but not specifically established for DNAJA1P1)
03

Disease associations

No direct evidence for disease relevance or functional role (general pseudogenes can be biomarkers or regulate parental gene in certain diseases, but this is not established for DNAJA1P1)
