DnaJ heat shock protein family member C19 pseudogene 9 (DNAJC19P9) is a human pseudogene derived from the DnaJ (Hsp40) homolog family, specifically from subfamily C member 19. It does not encode a functional protein and is annotated as a non-functional genomic DNA sequence arising via duplication or retrotransposition of a protein-coding gene, subsequently disabled by mutations such as frameshifts or stop codons[2][4]. Pseudogenes like DNAJC19P9 are generally not direct therapeutic targets and do not have established pharmacological or biomarker relevance[4][5]. Some pseudogenes can have regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as acting as decoys for microRNAs or giving rise to regulatory non-coding RNAs, but there is no evidence for such a function in DNAJC19P9 at present[5].
