DnaJ homolog, subfamily B, member 5 pseudogene (DNAJB5 pseudogene; ENSG00000276828) is an annotated human pseudogene. Pseudogenes are DNA segments similar in sequence to known genes but rendered inactive (nonfunctional) by mutation, deletion, or premature stop codons, thus unable to produce functional protein[3][8]. DNAJB5 pseudogene shares homology with the functional gene DNAJB5, which is a molecular chaperone in the Hsp40/DNAJ family, assisting in proper protein folding, refolding, and preventing aggregation[3][4]. Unlike its parental gene, no biological activity, functional domain, disease association, or druggability is ascribed to this pseudogene.
