Target intelligence / Profile preview
ENSG00000253483 encodes a pseudogene related to the DnaJ (Hsp40) homolog, subfamily C, member 5 (DNAJC5) locus. While DNAJC5 is a chaperone protein involved in presynaptic function and neurodegenerative disease, this pseudogene does not encode a functional protein and does not carry out the molecular or biological functions of DNAJC5. It is located on the short arm of human chromosome 8, whereas the canonical protein-coding DNAJC5 gene is located on chromosome 20. The pseudogene is not considered a therapeutic target and should not be confused with the functional protein.
