The DnaJ homolog subfamily C member 7 pseudogene (ENSG00000218565, also known as LOC100129844 or DNAJC7 pseudogene) is a pseudogene: a genomic DNA sequence similar to that of a gene but nonfunctional due to mutations or loss of regulatory sequences required for normal expression[2][3]. Pseudogenes usually do not encode functional proteins and are not considered therapeutic targets, receptors, or enzymes. While the functional gene (DNAJC7) encodes a co-chaperone protein involved in protein folding, the pseudogene version has lost that capability[3][2].
