Overview

DNAJA4 divergent transcript (DNAJA4-DT) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) species produced by divergent transcription from the promoter region of the DNAJA4 gene, a member of the DnaJ Heat Shock Protein Family (Hsp40)[3][4]. Divergent transcription is a widespread phenomenon in mammalian genomes, where RNA polymerase II initiates transcription in both sense and antisense orientations at active promoter or enhancer regions, resulting in the formation of lncRNAs or antisense RNAs alongside protein-coding transcripts[1][5]. DNAJA4-DT does not encode a protein and its biological function is poorly characterized, though similar divergent transcripts have been proposed to play roles in transcriptional regulation, chromatin architecture, and potentially in evolutionary gene origination[1]. Its expression is generally low and unstable, and subject to exosome-mediated RNA decay[5]. There are no known disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker roles currently validated for DNAJA4-DT. The molecule is best classified as a regulatory noncoding RNA, distinguished from canonical druggable targets such as receptors, enzymes, or ion channels.
