DNAJB1 Pseudogene 2 (DNAJB1P2)

Target
DNAJB1P2
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene

Overview

DNAJB1 Pseudogene 2 (DNAJB1P2) is a pseudogene related to DNAJB1, a member of the DnaJ/Hsp40 heat shock protein family. Unlike the functional DNAJB1 gene, DNAJB1P2 is a non-coding sequence and does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes such as DNAJB1P2 are generally regarded as non-functional remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are not considered therapeutic targets[5].
