Overview

DNAJB5 divergent transcript (DNAJB5-DT), also called DNAJB5-AS1, is a long non-coding RNA gene located in the human genome with transcription on the strand opposite to the DNAJB5 gene locus. As an antisense RNA, it may potentially regulate the expression or function of the DNAJB5 gene through RNA:RNA interactions or epigenetic modifications, a general mechanism described for head-to-head antisense RNAs. However, there is currently no direct research evidence describing a specific biological function, disease process, or therapeutic potential for DNAJB5-DT[3]. It is distinct from the protein-coding gene DNAJB5, which encodes a heat shock protein co-chaperone involved in cellular stress response, cancer, and cardiac hypertrophy[2]; those properties do not apply to the divergent transcript DNAJB5-DT. There is no indication of DNAJB5-DT being a therapeutic target, biomarker, or being associated with specific safety concerns or mechanisms of action. Its role, if any, appears limited to gene regulation typical of the lncRNA class, but remains largely uninvestigated in the published literature[3].
