Overview

DNAJB6 pseudogene 5 (DNAJB6P5) is a pseudogene with sequence similarity to the DNAJB6 gene, which encodes a member of the DNAJ (Hsp40) family of molecular chaperones[4]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but typically non-functional; they do not produce functional protein products. No evidence suggests that DNAJB6P5 is transcribed or translated into a protein, nor does it appear to play a known role in disease or biology. DNAJB6P5 should not be confused with the functional DNAJB6 gene, which is associated with protein homeostasis and muscle disease but is a distinct and active protein-coding gene[1][2][3][4].
