DNAJC6 antisense RNA 1 (DNAJC6-AS1) is a putative long noncoding RNA transcript antisense to the DNAJC6 locus. While antisense RNAs in general are implicated in diverse gene regulatory processes, there is currently no specific experimental evidence for the biological function, disease association, or therapeutic targeting of DNAJC6-AS1 in humans. The protein-coding DNAJC6 gene (Auxilin) is important for synaptic vesicle endocytosis and is associated with juvenile-onset Parkinsonism, but these findings do not directly pertain to DNAJC6-AS1 [1][3][5][7]. DNAJC6-AS1 is primarily annotated in transcriptomic datasets as a noncoding RNA gene, and its function, clinical relevance, and druggability remain uncharacterized.
For antisense RNAs in general, mechanisms may include: Modulation of gene expression via base-pairing and RNA interference; Regulation of mRNA stability, translation or transcription [2][6]. However, DNAJC6-AS1-specific mechanisms have not been documented.
