DNAJC8 pseudogene 4 (DNAJC8P4) is a predicted non-protein-coding pseudogene related to the functional gene *DNAJC8*, a member of the heat shock protein 40 (HSP40) family. Pseudogenes such as DNAJC8P4 are genomic DNA sequences similar to known genes but are typically non-functional due to mutations or lack of necessary regulatory elements. There is no evidence to suggest that DNAJC8P4 produces a protein product, participates in signaling or cellular function, or is involved in disease processes or drug responses. In contrast, its protein-coding paralog DNAJC8 is upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma and associated with cell proliferation, apoptosis, and modulation of the tumor immune microenvironment, and shows potential as a prognostic marker and therapeutic target in cancer[1]. However, these attributes do not apply to DNAJC8P4. Key Point: DNAJC8P4 is a pseudogene, not a therapeutic molecule or receptor, and should not be considered a conventional drug target. Any functional or disease relevance ascribed to *DNAJC8* does not extend to DNAJC8P4[1].
