DNM3-IT1 is considered a non-coding transcript and does **not encode a protein**. Several microRNAs (such as miR-214 and miR-199a) originate within this intronic region and are known to play roles in cancer biology by acting as tumor suppressors or oncogenes depending on context, suggesting DNM3-IT1 may exert its effects at least in part by hosting or regulating these miRNAs[1].
