Overview

DOCK1 antisense RNA 1 (DOCK1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is transcribed in antisense orientation relative to the DOCK1 gene and is classified as an antisense lncRNA. Antisense lncRNAs such as DOCK1-AS1 typically regulate their sense gene (here, DOCK1) post-transcriptionally or epigenetically, including by influencing mRNA stability, modulating translation, or recruiting chromatin-modifying complexes to the corresponding gene locus. While the specific mechanistic and disease associations for DOCK1-AS1 are poorly characterized in current literature, functionally similar antisense lncRNAs are often implicated in the regulation of gene expression programs relevant to cell proliferation, migration, and oncogenesis. No direct evidence was found that DOCK1-AS1 itself is a therapeutic target, interacts with drugs, or serves as a clinical biomarker; these roles are currently more strongly established for its sense protein-coding counterpart, DOCK1.
