Overview

Dolichyl-diphosphooligosaccharide--protein glycosyltransferase subunit KCP2 (KRTCAP2) is a protein component of the oligosaccharyltransferase (OST) complex responsible for catalyzing the initial transfer of a glycan from dolichol-pyrophosphate to an asparagine residue in nascent polypeptide chains during co-translational protein N-glycosylation in the endoplasmic reticulum. KRTCAP2 acts as an adapter, anchoring the OST-A complex to the Sec61 complex at the translocon, and is essential for normal glycosylation of proteins[1][9][8]. There is no direct evidence that it is a drug target, nor are there known interacting drugs or safety concerns related to its modulation. Variants in KRTCAP2 are associated with rare autosomal recessive diseases, including a granulomatous disorder and intellectual developmental delay[1].
