Donor-derived polyclonal T cells are a diverse population of T lymphocytes obtained from a donor, typically in the context of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) or donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI). These cells possess a diverse repertoire of T cell receptors (TCRs), enabling them to recognize multiple antigens. Their primary role is to restore immune function, mediate graft-versus-leukemia effects, or provide anti-viral immunity in immunocompromised recipients. While beneficial, unmanipulated donor-derived polyclonal T cell infusions carry risks such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).
Donor-derived polyclonal T cells recognize and respond to various antigens presented by recipient tissues, mediating graft-versus-leukemia effects, restoring immune function, or providing anti-viral immunity. Unmanipulated cells pose a risk of GVHD.
