Tyrosinase-related protein 2 (TRP2), also known as DOPAchrome tautomerase (DT), is a melanocyte differentiation antigen and an enzyme crucial for melanin biosynthesis in mammals. It catalyzes the conversion of DOPAchrome to 5,6-dihydroxyindole-2-carboxylic acid (DHICA), thereby influencing both the quantity and quality of melanin produced. TRP2 acts as a tumor-associated antigen recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) in melanoma models and is a target for immunotherapy.
