Dopamine D2L Receptor (D2L receptor)

Target
D2L receptor
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Dopamine receptor, D2-like receptor family
01

Overview

The dopamine D2L receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor isoform encoded by the *DRD2* gene. It is predominantly postsynaptic and highly expressed in the striatum. Activation of D2L receptors leads to inhibition of adenylyl cyclase and decreased cAMP levels, playing a key role in motor control, reward processing, learning, and memory. It is a major target for antipsychotic drugs, and its dysfunction is implicated in neuropsychiatric disorders like schizophrenia and affective disorders.
