Dopamine D5 Receptor (DRD5)

Target
DRD5
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, Receptor
01

Overview

The Dopamine D5 receptor (DRD5) is a subtype of dopamine receptor belonging to the D1-like family. It is a G-protein coupled receptor that activates adenylyl cyclase, leading to increased cAMP production. DRD5 plays a role in regulating attention, mood, memory, learning, movement, and cognitive processes, particularly working memory. It is a potential therapeutic target for neuropsychiatric disorders and chronic pain, although the development of selective ligands remains a challenge.
