Dopamine receptor D2 (DRD2) is a G protein-coupled receptor that plays a central role in the dopaminergic system of the brain. It is encoded by the *DRD2* gene. DRD2 is one of five dopamine receptor subtypes and belongs to the "D2-like" family. It regulates locomotion, cognition, emotion, and neuroendocrine secretion. Most antipsychotic drugs act as antagonists at DRD2. Dysregulation of DRD2 signaling is linked to schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, and substance use disorders.
