Dopamine Receptor D2 Long Isoform (D2L)

Target
D2L
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Receptor
01

Overview

Dopamine receptor D2L is a G protein-coupled receptor and one of two major isoforms produced by alternative splicing of the DRD2 gene. Predominantly postsynaptic, D2L modulates motor activity, cognition, and emotion. As the main target for antipsychotic medications, it plays a key role in treating schizophrenia and other dopamine-related disorders. Dysfunction or genetic variation within D2L contributes to diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and addiction.
