Pseudogenes generally arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events; they often retain homology to the parent gene but do not produce functional protein. This pseudogene is not a therapeutic target, does not participate in cellular signaling, and has no direct biological function or drug interactions. It should not be confused with the functional dopamine receptor D5, which is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family and is involved in neurotransmission[1][3].
