Target intelligence / Profile preview
A dopamine uptake inhibitor is a compound that blocks the reabsorption (reuptake) of the neurotransmitter dopamine from the synaptic cleft, increasing dopamine levels and dopaminergic neurotransmission. The primary target is the dopamine transporter (DAT). These agents are used therapeutically for conditions like ADHD, narcolepsy and depression, but also carry a risk of abuse and addiction due to their effects on brain reward pathways.
