Overview

Double homeobox 4 like 13 (DUX4L13) is a human pseudogene related to the double homeobox 4 (DUX4) gene, which encodes a transcription factor containing two homeodomains and plays key roles in early embryonic gene regulation and in several disease processes when aberrantly expressed. DUX4L13 itself, however, is not known to be expressed or translated into a functional protein, and there is no evidence implicating DUX4L13 in disease, biological processes, or as a therapeutic target[1]. Most scientific and clinical literature involving "double homeobox 4" refers to the DUX4 gene, not DUX4L13, so claims or experimental findings concerning DUX4 should not be attributed to DUX4L13[1][5]. If considering drug targeting, disease relevance, or biological function, DUX4 (not DUX4L13) is the molecule of interest[3][5]. DUX4L13 remains a non-coding pseudogene with no currently recognized clinical or experimental significance.
