Overview

DUX4L27 is a predicted pseudogene in the human genome closely related to the double homeobox 4 (DUX4) gene family[3]. It shares sequence similarity with DUX4, a double homeodomain transcription factor involved in early embryonic gene regulation, but DUX4L27 has not been shown to encode a functional protein or to mediate any known biological or pathological effects[3][1]. Unlike DUX4—which regulates gene activation in development and is implicated in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy and leukemia—DUX4L27 appears to be transcriptionally silent and lacks evidence for physiological relevance or druggability[1][3][7]. In summary, "DUX4L27" is a pseudogene and not a functional molecular target for therapeutic intervention. All clinical and mechanistic data pertain to its active homolog, DUX4, not to DUX4L27.
