Target intelligence / Profile preview
Double homeobox protein 4 like 31 (DUX4L31) is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome. While 'DUX4L31' is a named entity based on its sequence similarity to the functional DUX4 gene, there is no evidence that DUX4L31 encodes a functional protein or that it functions as a therapeutic target. The canonical DUX4 gene is a transcription factor involved in gene regulation during early embryogenesis and is implicated in disorders such as facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy. However, DUX4L31 lacks supporting evidence for protein expression or functional activity and should not be considered a validated molecular target. DUX4L31 is annotated as a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a functional protein and lacks biological activity. There is no evidence linking DUX4L31 to molecular functions, disease roles, or drug interactions in humans. The "double homeobox" gene family (to which DUX4 and its pseudogene relatives belong) consists of transcription factors, but this functional status does not apply to DUX4L31 specifically. Information about the well-characterized DUX4 protein (not DUX4L31) includes roles in embryonic transcriptional activation, disease relevance in muscular dystrophy, and effects on translation and nuclear receptor co-repression, but these properties do not extend to the DUX4L31 pseudogene.
